Let’s start with very first article from BBG.

MOST say: Blogging is the best way of earning online. FEW say: It’s just a way to express your opinions publicly with the world. SOME say: It’s something they do to earn and gain fame. Again FEW say: It’s sharing and engaging with other like-minded people. I say: It’s my way to learn and share what I know with you, guys!

What is Blogging - Brutal Blogging Guide

But what exactly should you say when you’re asked the same question, I mean what is blogging?

Umm… Jot it down in a new notepad file to copy-paste it in the comment box later! I want to hear it.

Let me tell you here what it is! I said, I learn a lot from it and share what do I know with readers. RIGHT? But…

Really none of the above mentioned answers is exact definition of ‘blogging’.

Blogging is the process of writing material and then publishing at a blog to update it regularly.

[pullquote]Blogging is a process and an activity of writing and publishing on the blog to update it.[/pullquote]

While the word ‘blog‘ is a noun as well as a verb. Blog (noun) means, a site/place where information or material is put regularly to share it publicly with the entire world or specific locations. Verb ‘blog‘ indicates, the action or activity of updating a blog (noun) with new information in a regular manner.

And that’s all a word “blog” could mean I think.

Since the word blogging is the significant and worth the attention of a newbie initially, when he/she wishes to keep a blog for certain reasons… And is also something that we cannot skip at any cost only because of this word, blogging world exists. So, it has the greatest importance in blogging as well as it’s “itself” very important for bloggers.

First Brutal Truth About Blogging

As the name of this series is ‘Brutal Blogging Guide’ says most about the itself…

Brutal. Something unpleasant, uncomfortable and cruel etc.

BBG will be having more interest in revealing brutal facts about blogging and much more that could easily feel you uncomfortable but it’ll surely help you… Here I’m just gonna write the first brutal truth about blogging.

The first brutal truth about blogging is that, it seems like buttering a bread… but isn’t. Most the new folks when dive in with blogging, just keep a little thinking that they think could make them money and they’ll be rocking like other successful bloggers in their niches.

What thinking do they have usually? Here I’m going to jot it down in their own words…

The story here is the continuation after they’ve just got their blog live.

- So, now I’ve started a blog. Daily I will post on it more and more, and will be bringing more and more traffic overnight.

- I will get lots of comments by posting daily, and would also have more money because it is said that more traffic = more money.

- I will be a successful blogger, one who earns online daily. And that’s the end here.

Did you find anything missing in the story? Yes! You might, because that’s not only the sole story that a failed or new blogger normally have. There are bloggers who even don’t have the intention to write for their OWN blogs, they do think they can easily survive when it comes to copyright violation.

But…

It really isn’t like they think!

A lot of obstacles are waiting for you to get in their trap, I was also stuck when faced few obstacles for long.

Because Blogging is like a Chess!

Yes. I think, same as Chess game there are two opponents on both sides opposing each other and struggling badly to be alive after sleeping oppositely struggling opponent in it’s grave ;-) . Now blogging is called not a process where you write and publish to update a blog. Because blogosphere has changed. It’s now a different game, war and rarely a place where someone is quite honest.

The opposite opponent isn’t just an opponent but it also has 16 weapons (pieces) to lay you down the grave! Mean to get you off the blogging, to make you give up and to make you a disbeliever of blogging that it really can something for you.

Yet, I have found ‘a’ dissimilarity between both… And it’s the biggest difference ever there.

Likely in chess we are required to run our minds to get the most out of survival. We move cleverly, we sometimes also cheat because humans’ don’t like failures most the times. But, in blogging cleverness doesn’t work almost every time (according to my experience, so far)… It requires honesty. It is the difference and could also be most important lesson for you.

You have to be clever in Chess. Still I couldn’t find anything done cleverly yet successfully in blogging.

Really nice post, waiting for the next post of this series …

  3. Yes honesty matters. The more transparent you are to your readers, the more credibility you build and the more trust you gain, the more loveable you become by your readers.

    Great post, Mairaj!

    • Smith Warnes says:

I agree Kylex, blogging is more about your readers, and being transparent will help in gaining trust. Posts should aim at solving reader’s queries and generate interest in them. Blogging is a connection between you and your readers and maintaining that connection will ensure success.

      • Hi Smith,

Gaining trust and building an authority in your niche takes a lot of precious time, and more importantly we mustn’t implement even a single tip/strategy without knowing what works for you. TEST!
Keep visiting Kylex and Smith bros!

    • Being transparent? I don’t think so, nor I’d put my agree hands here because being transparent doesn’t take it personal and the successful blogger most the times go personal and tell their readers’ freely. One should maintain the flow of words precisely! And should always work on what make readers’ pleased.
      BTW, thanks for your comment.
